Situated near Edzell, Angus, The Burn is a holiday and study centre for students, graduates and academic staff from around the world. It was gifted in 1948 to Goodenough College by the late Mr & Mrs Herbert Russell in memory of their son James, who was killed in action in 1944 aged 21. The house, built in 1791 and now completely modernised, consists of a large drawing room, dining room, library, TV room, indoor games room and has eighteen bedrooms. It is centrally heated throughout. and is now the venue for many courses and activity holidays.

Standing in 190 acres of park and woodland on the banks of the River North Esk, The Burn affords peace and tranquility in a country house setting. The emphasis of the Course will be on working out of doors, in situ; the grounds of The Burn House offer some fine opportunities for sketching the landscape. We also have exclusive access to a workroom should the weather prevent outdoors sketching or for developing or finishing work.

If painting 'on the spot' in a superb location provides the challenge, the welcome, the hospitality and the food combine to ensure a busy and enjoyable painting course in a relaxing setting.
